The Description of the Glory of the Purāṇa
Purāṇa-Māhātmya
tathaiva nāradīyaṃ tu purāṇeṣu prakīrtitam | śāṃtirastu śivaṃ cāstu sarveṣāṃ vo dvijottamāḥ || 47 ||
Suta (narrator addressing the assembled sages/dvijas)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It functions as a concluding benediction after the Purāṇic proclamation, sealing the recitation with śānti (peace) and śiva/maṅgala (auspiciousness) for the listeners.
Direct bhakti instruction is not given here; instead, it frames the Nārada Purāṇa as an authoritative Purāṇa and ends with a traditional auspicious blessing—supporting devotional study by sanctifying the hearing (śravaṇa) of Purāṇic teachings.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is taught in this verse; it reflects the ritual-literary convention of ending a section with a śānti/maṅgala formula used in sacred recitation.
