FAQs

It teaches steadfastness (dṛḍha-niścaya) in dharma: a vow is to be protected even under hardship, choosing simple sustenance over compromising one’s spiritual commitment.

By insisting that one should not abandon a sacred observance, it supports bhakti as consistent practice—devotion is proved by perseverance, not convenience.

It reflects kalpa-style ritual discipline: the practical rule that maintaining a vrata may require regulated living (such as accepting only unsolicited food) to avoid actions that weaken the vow.
