Suta (narrating the chapter-topics in an anukrama/listing style, within the Narada Purana’s discourse tradition)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta (wonder)
Secondary Rasa: bhakti (devotion)
It functions as an anukrama (topic index), showing that practical dharmic guidance (omens, dreams, auspicious signs) is integrated with devotion through the later glorification of Viṣṇu’s avatāras—Vāmana and Varāha.
By explicitly moving from worldly guidance (journey-omens and dream-auspiciousness) to māhātmya-kīrtana (glorification) of Vāmana and Varāha, it implies that hearing and reciting the Lord’s avatāra-greatness is a central bhakti practice.
Nimitta-śāstra and svapna-vicāra—reading omens and interpreting dreams as auspicious/inauspicious indicators—overlap with Jyotiṣa-style applied knowledge often used to guide travel, ritual timing, and dharmic decision-making.
