Educational Q&A

Power guided by discipline can restrain greater force: Arjuna’s controlled, strategic response (arrow-barrage and formation-awareness) is likened to the shore that sets a boundary to the ocean’s surge—an ethical image of measured resistance rather than uncontrolled violence.

The Kaurava forces, arranged in battle formation and advancing in multiple divisions, rush forward. Arjuna meets their charge with a concentrated shower of arrows and halts their momentum, just as a coastline checks the sea’s oncoming waves.
