Chapter 55
बहुधा तस्य सैन्यस्य व्यूढस्यापतत: शरै: । अधारयत वेगं स वेलेव तु महोदधे:,तब जैसे वेला (तटभूमि) महासागरके वेगको रोक लेती है, उसी प्रकार अर्जुनने व्यूहरचनापूर्वक बाणवर्षाके साथ आती हुई अनेक भागोंमें विभक्त कौरवसेनाके बढ़ावको रोक दिया
bahudhā tasya sainyasya vyūḍhasyāpatataḥ śaraiḥ | adhārayat vegaṃ sa veleva tu mahodadheḥ ||

वैशम्पायन उवाच
Power guided by discipline can restrain greater force: Arjuna’s controlled, strategic response (arrow-barrage and formation-awareness) is likened to the shore that sets a boundary to the ocean’s surge—an ethical image of measured resistance rather than uncontrolled violence.
The Kaurava forces, arranged in battle formation and advancing in multiple divisions, rush forward. Arjuna meets their charge with a concentrated shower of arrows and halts their momentum, just as a coastline checks the sea’s oncoming waves.
