Garuḍa–Śakra Saṃvāda and the Retrieval of Amṛta (गरुड–शक्र संवादः अमृत-अपहरण-प्रसङ्गः)
अतिदैवं तु तत् तस्य कर्म दृष्टवा महर्षय: । विस्मयोत्कम्पह्दया नाम चक्रुर्महाखगे,जिसे देवता भी नहीं कर सकते थे, गरुडका ऐसा अलौकिक कर्म देखकर वे महर्षि आश्चर्यसे चकित हो उठे। उनके हृदयमें कम्प छा गया और उन्होंने उस महान् पक्षीका नाम इस प्रकार रखा (उनके गरुड नामकी व्युत्पत्ति इस प्रकार की)--
atidaivaṁ tu tat tasya karma dṛṣṭvā maharṣayaḥ | vismayotkampahṛdayā nāma cakrur mahākhage ||
ครั้นเห็นกิจอันเหนือสามัญของเขา—ถึงกับประหนึ่งล้ำเกินกำลังทวยเทพ—มหาฤๅษีทั้งหลายก็อัศจรรย์ยิ่งนัก ใจของท่านสั่นสะท้านด้วยความพิศวง แล้วจึงพร้อมกันตั้งนามแก่ปักษีผู้ยิ่งใหญ่นั้น ให้สอดคล้องกับความยิ่งใหญ่แห่งการกระทำของเขา
