Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dāna as a dharmic practice: wealth and power are to be expressed through generous, fitting gifts—well-equipped and responsibly staffed—thereby honoring relationships and upholding social order.

Vaiśampāyana narrates Krishna’s lavish presentation of gifts: a thousand richly ornamented four-horse chariots with trained charioteers, and ten thousand milch-cows from the Mathurā region.
