Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how outward honor and comfort can conceal harmful intentions; ethical discernment requires looking beyond appearances, especially in contexts of political hostility and covert violence.

The guests (contextually, the Pāṇḍavas and their mother) are received with great respect by the host (Purocana), provided with costly arrangements, and attended by townsmen; they settle in—setting the stage for the later revelation of the host’s treacherous purpose.
