तस्य कालेन महता तस्मिंस्तपसि वर्ततः । तमाश्रममनुप्राप्ता दस्यवो लोप्न्रहारिण:,उस कठोर तपस्यामें लगे हुए महर्षिके बहुत दिन व्यतीत हो गये। एक दिन उनके आश्रमपर चोरीका माल लिये हुए बहुत-से लुटेरे आये

tasya kālena mahatā tasmiṁs tapasi vartataḥ | tam āśramam anuprāptā dasyavo lopnahāriṇaḥ ||

เมื่อฤๅษีผู้นั้นบำเพ็ญตบะอันเคร่งครัดอยู่เป็นเวลายาวนาน ครั้นกาลล่วงไปมากแล้ว พวกโจรจำนวนหนึ่งซึ่งหอบหิ้วทรัพย์ที่ลักมาได้ก็พากันมาถึงอาศรมแห่งนั้น
