Sukta 3
अधा यथा नः पितरः परासः प्रत्नासो अग्न ऋतमाशशानाः । शुचीदयन् दीध्यत उक्थशासः क्षामा भिन्दन्तो अरुणीरप व्रन्
adhā́ yáthā naḥ pitáraḥ párāsaḥ pratnā́so agne ṛtám āśaśānā́ḥ | śucī́dayan dídhyata ukthaśā́saḥ kṣāmā́ bhindánto aruṇī́r ápa vran ||
Then, as our Fathers of old, the ancient ones, O Agni, longing for the Right, made pure and shone—hymn-declaimers—cleaving the earth, they drave away the ruddy (dawns) afar.
แล้วดังที่บรรพชนของเราในกาลก่อน—ผู้โบราณทั้งหลาย—ได้กระทำไว้ โอ้อัคนี (Agni) เขาทั้งหลายใคร่หา ฤตะ (ṛta) คือความเที่ยงธรรมแห่งระเบียบจักรวาล ชำระตนให้บริสุทธิ์และส่องประกาย; ในฐานะผู้ประกาศบทสรรเสริญ (uktha-śāsa) เขาทั้งหลายผ่าแผ่นดิน และขับไล่สิ่งสีแดงเรื่อ (อรุณรุ่ง) ให้ไกลออกไป.
