Weapon Type: Bodhāsi (ritual ‘sword of awakening’/empowered implement)
Concept: Symbolic non-duality of Śiva-Śakti (liṅga-bhaga) enacted through mudrā; bodhāsi signifies jñāna/awakening that ‘cuts’ ignorance, stabilized by mantra-japa.
Application: Coordinate hand-gesture, offering into kumbha, and continuous japa as a single integrated sequence (kriyā-yoga of mantra, mudrā, dravya).
Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi (Lingodbhava/Linga-puja and Mantra–Mudra ritual procedure)
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A Śaiva altar with a kumbha and liṅga emblem; the officiant forms the liṅga-mudrā to enact bhaga-liṅga union, then offers a symbolic sword (bodhāsi) into/over the kumbha while continuing mantra recitation.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, Śiva-liṅga with yoni base, priest hands in liṅga-mudrā, bodhāsi depicted as radiant sword of light entering the kumbha, sacred aura and traditional temple motifs","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore, central liṅga with gold halo, priest performing mudrā, bodhāsi as jeweled sword with gold leaf, kumbha richly ornamented, devotional symmetry and heavy gilding","mysore_prompt":"Mysore painting, clear depiction of liṅga-mudrā hand position, labeled sequence: mudrā → bodhāsi offering → japa, refined lines and soft colors suitable for instructional clarity","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, intimate shrine scene with detailed vessels, priest forming a precise mudrā, luminous sword-like implement offered toward the kumbha, calligraphic mantra-scroll motif in the margin"}

Related Themes: Agni Purana 78 (Liṅga-pūjā, mudrā, mūla-mantra)
It gives a Śaiva ritual sequence: perform the Bhaga–Liṅga “samāyoga” using the Liṅga-mudrā, empower/offer the Bodhāsi into the consecration pot (kumbha), and continue with mūla-mantra japa.
It preserves specialized temple-ritual technology—mudrā usage, kalaśa/kumbha rites, and mantra-japa protocols—showing how the Agni Purāṇa functions as a practical manual alongside its mythic and doctrinal material.
By uniting symbol (Bhaga–Liṅga), gesture (mudrā), vessel-consecration (kumbha), and mantra (mūla-japa), the rite is intended to “awaken” and stabilize the deity’s presence, remove obstacles, and produce purification and merit for the performer and patron.
