नवकोट्यस्तु चामुण्डा भेदभिन्ना व्यवस्थिताः । या रौद्री तामसी शक्तिः सा चामुण्डा प्रकीर्तिता ॥

navakoṭyastu cāmuṇḍā bhedabhinna vyavasthitāḥ | yā raudrī tāmasī śaktiḥ sā cāmuṇḍā prakīrtitā ||

చాముండా దేవి తొమ్మిది కోటులుగా భేదభిన్నమై యథావిధిగా స్థితిచెందినదని చెప్పబడుతుంది. రౌద్రీయైన, తామస స్వరూపమైన ఆ శక్తియే ‘చాముండా’ అని ప్రకటించబడింది।
