The Hunter’s Austerity and the Gaining of Durvāsas’ Favor

तमस्थिशेषं व्याधं तु क्षुधादुर्बलतां गतम् । उवाच वेदाध्ययनं सर्वे वेदाः ससंग्रहाः । ब्रह्मविद्या पुराणानि प्रत्यक्षाणि भवन्तु ते ॥ ३८.२९ ॥

tamasthiśeṣaṃ vyādhaṃ tu kṣudhādurbalatāṃ gatam | uvāca vedādhyayanaṃ sarve vedāḥ sasaṃgrahāḥ | brahmavidyā purāṇāni pratyakṣāṇi bhavantu te || 38.29 ||

అప్పుడు ఆకలిచేత క్షీణించి ఎముకలమాత్రమై ఉన్న ఆ వ్యాధునితో ఆయన ఇలా అన్నాడు—“నీకు వేదాధ్యయనం కలుగుగాక; సంగ్రహములతో కూడిన సమస్త వేదములు నీకు ప్రత్యక్షమగుగాక; బ్రహ్మవిద్య మరియు పురాణములు కూడా నీకు ప్రత్యక్షమగుగాక.”
