FAQs

It provides measurable sacred-topography (ardhakrośa) and attributes protective sovereignty over a city to a deity, useful for cultural geography and the history of regional sanctuaries.

A Śiva-kṣetra in the vicinity of Mathurā, described by extent (half a krośa) rather than a specific modern place-name.

It suggests an ethic of safeguarding and honoring heritage spaces, presenting the city and its environs as protected and thus worthy of careful conduct.
