aṣṭottamāni catvāri madhyamāni vidhānataḥ | kānīyasāni śeṣāṇi trividhatvamidaṃ viduḥ

విధానప్రకారం ఎనిమిది దానాలు ‘ఉత్తమ’, నాలుగు ‘మధ్యమ’; మిగిలినవి ‘కనీయ’. ఈ విధంగా జ్ఞానులు దీనిని త్రివిధ స్థాయిగా గ్రహిస్తారు।
