It classifies the Sun through limbs, powers, and names, guiding the seeker to see cosmic radiance as an ordered manifestation within Shiva’s lordship (Pati), rather than as an independent ultimate reality.
By listing the Sun’s energies and epithets, the text supports Saguna contemplation—recognizing divine order in the cosmos—while Shaiva Siddhanta ultimately directs that such powers are subordinate to Shiva, the supreme ground worshiped as the Linga.
A practical takeaway is nāma-smaraṇa (recollection) and dhyāna: mentally recite the Sun’s epithets in sequence as a discipline of attention, then internalize that all brilliance culminates in devotion to Shiva through the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
