Sukta 1.94
विशां गोपा अस्य चरन्ति जन्तवो द्विपच्च यदुत चतुष्पदक्तुभिः । चित्रः प्रकेत उषसो महाँ अस्यग्ने सख्ये मा रिषामा वयं तव ॥
viśā́ṃ gopā́ asya caranti jántavo dvipác ca yád utá cátuṣpad aktúbhiḥ | citráḥ prakéta uṣáso mahā́m asi ágne sakhyé mā́ riṣāmā vayáṃ táva ||
ఇతడు ప్రజల గోపా—రక్షకుడు; అతని పరిరక్షణలో సమస్త జీవులు సంచరిస్తారు—ద్విపదులు, చతుష్పదులు—రాత్రుల మధ్య. అతని ప్రకేతం (వివేక-ప్రకాశం) విచిత్రంగా దీప్తిమంతం; ఉషస్సులలో నీవు మహానవు, ఓ అగ్నీ. నీ సఖ్యంలో మాకు హాని కలగకూడదు; నీ ఆశ్రయంలో మేము సురక్షితులమై ఉండుదుము.
