Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how war—especially at night—breeds confusion and panic, eroding discipline and ethical clarity. It implicitly contrasts ordered, dharmic conduct with the disorder that violence unleashes in human minds and communities.

Sañjaya reports that in the night there was a tremendous clamor in the camp: soldiers were running, fleeing, and then returning, creating a loud, widespread uproar across the armies.
