य॒दा शृ॒तं कृ॒णवो॑ जातवे॒दोऽथे॒ममे॑नं॒ परि॑ दत्तात् पि॒तृभ्यः॑ । य॒दो गच्छा॒त्यसु॑नीतिमे॒तामथ॑ दे॒वानां॑ वश॒नीर्भ॑वाति

IAST Transliteration

yadā́ śrutáṃ kṛṇávo jātavedo 'thémám enaṃ pári dattāt pitṛ́bhyaḥ | yadó gácchāty ásunītim etā́m átha devā́nāṃ vaśanī́r bhavāti

English Translation (Griffith/Whitney)

When thou hast made him duly roasted, O Jātavedas, then hand him over, wholly, unto the Fathers. And when he goeth upon this leading-forth of breath, then cometh he under the governance of the Gods.

Translation

ఓ జాతవేదస్! నీవు ఇతనిని విధిపూర్వకంగా బాగా కాల్చి (దహన-సంస్కారాన్ని పూర్తి చేసి) చేసిన తరువాత, ఇతనిని పూర్తిగా పితృభ్యులకు అప్పగించు. అతడు ఈ ప్రాణ-నేతృత్వ మార్గంలో గమించినప్పుడు, దేవతల వశంలో/ఆధీనంలోకి వస్తాడు.
