गृहाणमूल्यं पद्मानां न गृहीतं मया हि तत् । सात्त्विकं भावमास्थाय सभार्येण द्विजोत्तमाः

Transliteration

gṛhāṇamūlyaṃ padmānāṃ na gṛhītaṃ mayā hi tat | sāttvikaṃ bhāvamāsthāya sabhāryeṇa dvijottamāḥ

Translation

அவள்—‘தாமரைகளின் விலையை எடுத்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள்’ என்றாள்; ஆனால் நான் அதை ஏற்கவில்லை. ஓ இருபிறப்பில் சிறந்தவர்களே, மனைவியுடன் நான் சாத்த்விகப் பாவத்தை ஏற்று அந்தத் தூய நோக்கில் நிலைத்திருந்தேன்.
