brahmaviṣṇvarkarudrāṇāṃ māhātmyaṃ bhuvanasya ca | saṃhāraśca pradṛśyeta purāṇaṃ pañcalakṣaṇam

அதில் பிரம்மா, விஷ்ணு, அர்கன் (சூரியன்), ருத்ரன் ஆகியோரின் மஹிமையும், உலகங்களின் இயல்பும், அவற்றின் லயமும் காணப்படுகின்றன—இதனால் புராணம் பஞ்சலட்சணமென அறியப்படுகிறது।
