पूर्वं कृतयुगस्यांते बलिना च पुरंदरः । निर्जित्य भ्रंशितः स्थानात्तदर्थं मधुसूदनः
pūrvaṃ kṛtayugasyāṃte balinā ca puraṃdaraḥ | nirjitya bhraṃśitaḥ sthānāttadarthaṃ madhusūdanaḥ
முன்னொரு காலத்தில் க்ருதயுகத்தின் முடிவில் பலியால் புரந்தரன் இந்திரன் வெல்லப்பட்டு தன் நிலையிலிருந்து வீழ்த்தப்பட்டான்; அதற்காக தர்மத்தை நிலைநாட்ட மதுசூதனன் செயல்பட்டான்.
