मृकण्डो ब्राह्मणोनाम पुराऽसीच्छंसितव्रतः । अन्ते वयसि संजातस्तस्य पुत्रोऽतिसुन्दरः
mṛkaṇḍo brāhmaṇonāma purā'sīcchaṃsitavrataḥ | ante vayasi saṃjātastasya putro'tisundaraḥ
முன்னொரு காலத்தில் ம்ருகண்டு என்னும் ஒரு பிராமணர் இருந்தார்; புகழப்பட்ட விரதங்களில் உறுதியானவர். அவருக்கு முதுமைக் காலத்தில் மிக அழகிய ஒரு மகன் பிறந்தான்.
