धिग्धिङ्मे जीवितं नष्टं कुतः कार्यरतस्य च । कलत्र संग्रहं नैव मया कृतमबुद्धिना
dhigdhiṅme jīvitaṃ naṣṭaṃ kutaḥ kāryaratasya ca | kalatra saṃgrahaṃ naiva mayā kṛtamabuddhinā
“அய்யோ, அய்யோ! என் வாழ்வு நாசமாயிற்று; உழைப்பில் ஈடுபட்டதனால் என்ன பயன்? அறிவின்மையால் நான் மனைவி-இல்லறத்தை அமைத்ததே இல்லை।”
