पिता तस्य पुरा विप्रा जमदग्निर्निपातितः । क्षत्रियेण स्वधर्मस्थो विना दोषं द्विजोत्तमाः
pitā tasya purā viprā jamadagnirnipātitaḥ | kṣatriyeṇa svadharmastho vinā doṣaṃ dvijottamāḥ
முன்னொரு காலத்தில், ஓ பிராமணர்களே, அவனுடைய தந்தை ஜமதக்னி ஒரு க்ஷத்திரியனால் கொல்லப்பட்டார்; அந்தச் சிறந்த த்விஜன் தன் தர்மத்தில் நிலைத்தும் குற்றமற்றவருமாக இருந்தார்।
