विश्वामित्र उवाच । अत्र ते कीर्तयिष्यामि पूर्ववृत्तं कथांतरम् । शंखतीर्थस्य माहात्म्यं यथाजातं धरातले
viśvāmitra uvāca | atra te kīrtayiṣyāmi pūrvavṛttaṃ kathāṃtaram | śaṃkhatīrthasya māhātmyaṃ yathājātaṃ dharātale
விச்வாமித்ரர் கூறினார்—இங்கே உனக்கு முன்நிகழ்ந்த இன்னொரு புனிதக் கதையை நான் உரைப்பேன்; பூமியில் சங்கதீர்த்தத்தின் மஹாத்மியம் எவ்வாறு தோன்றியதோ அவ்வாறே.
