Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) (deduced: Purāṇic recital frame at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tirtha: Kedāra (sectional focus begins)
Type: kshetra
Listener: general audience of the Purāṇa (later specified as sages in Naimiṣa in 1.2)
Scene: A manuscript-opening scene: the reciter begins the Kedāra-khaṇḍa with folded hands; above appear symbolic presences of Gaṇeśa, Nārāyaṇa/Vāsudeva, Nara-Narottama, and Sarasvatī blessing the undertaking.
Sacred study begins with auspicious remembrance—invoking divine guidance and removing obstacles to understanding.
No single tīrtha is praised in this verse; it serves as the formal opening invocation to the khaṇḍa.
Maṅgalācaraṇa—beginning recitation with salutations and proclaiming ‘jaya’ (victory) for auspicious completion.
