ससैन्यान्पांडवानेतान्हन्यात्कालेन केन कः । मासेन तु प्रतिज्ञातं भीष्मेण च कृपेण च
sasainyānpāṃḍavānetānhanyātkālena kena kaḥ | māsena tu pratijñātaṃ bhīṣmeṇa ca kṛpeṇa ca
‘இந்த பாண்டவர்களை அவர்களது சேனையுடன் சேர்த்து யார், எத்தனை காலத்தில் கொல்ல முடியும்?’ ஏனெனில் பீஷ்மரும் கிருபரும் ‘ஒரு மாதத்தில்’ எனப் பிரதிஞ்ஞை செய்திருந்தனர்.
