ततः सुतनुनामा स बालोऽबालोऽभ्युवाच माम् । मम मंदायते वाणी प्रश्नैः स्वल्पैस्तव द्विज । तथापि वच्मि मां यस्मान्निहीनं मन्यते भवान्
tataḥ sutanunāmā sa bālo'bālo'bhyuvāca mām | mama maṃdāyate vāṇī praśnaiḥ svalpaistava dvija | tathāpi vacmi māṃ yasmānnihīnaṃ manyate bhavān
அப்போது சுதனு என்னும் அந்தச் சிறுவன்—வயதில் இளையனாயினும் குழந்தைபோல் அல்ல—என்னை நோக்கி: “ஓ த்விஜா, உன் சிறு கேள்விகள் என் வாக்கை மந்தமாக்குகின்றன; ஆயினும் நீ என்னை குறைவானவன் என எண்ணுவதால் நான் கூறுகிறேன்” என்றான்.
