वाक्यज्ञेयेषु भिन्नेषु यत्राभेदः प्रदृश्यते । तत्रातिशयहेतुत्वं तत्सौक्ष्म्यमिति निर्दिशेत्
vākyajñeyeṣu bhinneṣu yatrābhedaḥ pradṛśyate | tatrātiśayahetutvaṃ tatsaukṣmyamiti nirdiśet
வாக்கியத்தால் அறியப்பட வேண்டிய பொருள்கள் வேறுபட்டிருந்தாலும், எங்கு உள்ளார்ந்த ஒருமை (அபேதம்) தென்படுகிறதோ—மேன்மை விளைவிக்கும் தொடர்பை வெளிப்படுத்தும் அந்தத் திறனே ‘ஸௌக்ஷ்ம்யம்’ எனக் கூறப்படுகிறது।
