स्कंद उवाच । न कौलीन्यं न सद्वृत्तं महत्त्वाय प्रकल्पते । एकमेव पदं श्रेयः पदभ्रंशो हि लाघवम्
skaṃda uvāca | na kaulīnyaṃ na sadvṛttaṃ mahattvāya prakalpate | ekameva padaṃ śreyaḥ padabhraṃśo hi lāghavam
ஸ்கந்தன் கூறினான்—குலமரபும் நல்லொழுக்கமும் மட்டும் மகத்துவத்தை உறுதி செய்யாது. நற்கருமப் பாதையில் ஒரு உறுதியான அடியே சிறந்தது; நிலையிலிருந்து வழுதுவது தாழ்மைதான்.
