पापादवंती सा विश्वमवंतीति निगद्यते । युगेयुगेन्यनाम्नी सा कलावुज्जयिनीति च
pāpādavaṃtī sā viśvamavaṃtīti nigadyate | yugeyugenyanāmnī sā kalāvujjayinīti ca
பாவத்திலிருந்து உலகை காக்கிறாள் என்பதால் அவள் ‘அவந்தி’ என அழைக்கப்படுகிறாள். யுகம் யுகமாக அவளுக்குப் பல பெயர்கள் உண்டு; கலியுகத்தில் அவள் ‘உஜ்ஜயினி’ என்றும் கூறப்படுகிறாள்.
