varado'smi mahābhāga durlabhaṃ tridaśairapi | varaṃ dāsyāmyahaṃ vatsa brūhi yatte vivakṣitam
Śiva (Mahādeva)
Tirtha: Aṅgāraka Tīrtha
Type: kshetra
Listener: Mahārāja (king)
Scene: Śiva, radiant and calm, addresses Aṅgāraka affectionately, offering a boon; Aṅgāraka stands with folded hands, the Narmadā shimmering behind, attendants and subtle celestial witnesses present.
Śiva’s varada-nature shows that divine grace can exceed even celestial attainments when approached with devotion and purity.
Within the Revā Khaṇḍa context, the boon narrative supports the later tīrtha-māhātmya tied to Śaṅkara’s installation near the Revā (Narmadā).
No ritual is prescribed in this verse; it introduces the boon-dialogue that later culminates in tīrtha-snānā and worship.
