शिवसंस्कार-दीक्षानिरूपणम् (Śivasaṃskāra and the Typology of Dīkṣā)
यो ऽन्यथा कुरुते मोहात्स विनश्यति दुर्मतिः । तस्मात्सर्वप्रकारेण गुरुः शिष्यं परीक्षयेत्
yo 'nyathā kurute mohātsa vinaśyati durmatiḥ | tasmātsarvaprakāreṇa guruḥ śiṣyaṃ parīkṣayet
மயக்கத்தால் குருவின் ஆணையும் விதிமார்க்கமும் மாறாக நடப்பவன் தீயமதி; அவன் அழிவுறுவான். ஆகவே குரு எல்லா வகையிலும் சீடனைச் சோதித்து ஏற்க வேண்டும்.

Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Significance: Establishes the necessity of qualified initiation: right guru–śiṣya alignment prevents deviation (viparyaya) that leads to further bondage; supports the pilgrim’s/aspirant’s discernment (viveka) as a spiritual safeguard.
Role: teaching
It teaches that spiritual practice must be aligned with right understanding and the Guru’s guidance; deluded “doing otherwise” leads to downfall, so eligibility and sincerity must be verified to protect the aspirant’s path to Shiva-realization.
Linga worship and Saguna Shiva-upasana require correct vidhi (method), mantra, and inner attitude; the verse emphasizes that without proper guidance and adherence, external worship can become misguided, so the Guru ensures the disciple follows the authentic Shaiva way.
It implies disciplined, Guru-guided practice—such as japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namah Shivaya) and observances like bhasma (Tripundra) and rudraksha—undertaken only after proper examination and instruction.
