Daśaratha’s Promise, Vasiṣṭha’s Counsel, and Viśvāmitra’s Weapon-Lore
त्रस्तरूपं तु विज्ञाय जगत्सर्वं महानृषि:।नृपतिं सुव्रतो धीरो वसिष्ठो वाक्यमब्रवीत्।।।।
trasta-rūpaṃ tu vijñāya jagat sarvaṃ mahān ṛṣiḥ |
nṛpatiṃ suvrato dhīro vasiṣṭho vākyam abravīt ||
முழு உலகமும் அச்சமுற்ற தோற்றம் கொண்டதை அறிந்து, வ்ரதங்களில் உறுதியான, திடமுள்ள மகரிஷி வசிஷ்டர் அரசனை நோக்கி இவ்வாறு உரைத்தார்॥
Son of Kusika, even though capable of repressing those rakhsasas by himself, it is for the welfare of your son that he is here requesting you to spare him".
When conflict arises, dharma is clarified through wise counsel. Vasiṣṭha steps in to restore balance between royal duty and the sanctity of a promise.
Seeing cosmic fear due to Viśvāmitra’s wrath, Vasiṣṭha intervenes and begins advising Daśaratha.
