Arrival at Bharadvāja’s Hermitage and Counsel toward Citrakūṭa
evam uktas tu vacanaṃ bharadvājena rāghavaḥ | pratyuvāca śubhaṃ vākyaṃ rāmaḥ sarvahite rataḥ ||
Rama, ever devoted to the well-being of every one, heard Bharadwaja and replied to him with these auspicious words:
True dharma is not self-centered; it is oriented toward ‘sarvahita’—the welfare and peace of all affected.
The narration transitions from Bharadvāja’s offer to Rāma’s response, highlighting the ethical tone of Rāma’s reply.
Rāma’s sarvahita-bhāva—habitual concern for the common good, even while personally suffering exile.
