अधा यथा नः पितरः परासः प्रत्नासो अग्न ऋतमाशशानाः । शुचीदयन् दीध्यत उक्थशासः क्षामा भिन्दन्तो अरुणीरप व्रन्

IAST Transliteration

adhā́ yáthā naḥ pitáraḥ párāsaḥ pratnā́so agne ṛtám āśaśānā́ḥ | śucī́dayan dídhyata ukthaśā́saḥ kṣāmā́ bhindánto aruṇī́r ápa vran ||

English Translation (Griffith/Whitney)

Then, as our Fathers of old, the ancient ones, O Agni, longing for the Right, made pure and shone—hymn-declaimers—cleaving the earth, they drave away the ruddy (dawns) afar.

Translation

அப்போது, ஓ அக்னியே! எங்கள் பழம்பெரும் பித்ருக்கள்—புராதனோர்—ருதம் (சத்திய-ஒழுங்கு) நாடி, தூய்மையடைந்து ஒளிர்ந்தனர்; உக்த-ஶாஸர் (ஸ்தோத்திரம் உரைப்போர்) ஆகி, பூமியைப் பிளந்து, அருணீ (செம்மை நிற உஷாக்கள்)யைத் தூரம் விரட்டினர்.
