tataḥ prabhṛti sarve te śivadrohakaraṃ param | ātmānaṃ menire nityaṃ prasanne'pi maheśvare
ततः प्रभृति ते सर्वे, प्रसन्नेऽपि महेश्वरे, शिवद्रोहकरं परमं पापं कृतवन्त इति आत्मानं नित्यं मेनिरे।
Śiva (Īśvara)
Scene: Maheśvara is serene and gracious; the sages, though forgiven, remain bowed and self-reproachful, holding their hands in añjali, embodying lasting humility.
True repentance remains vigilant even after forgiveness; humility safeguards devotion and dharmic conduct.
The remorse leads the sages toward Prabhāsa tīrthas for further austerity and purification.
Not a specific rite, but an ongoing attitude of remorse that culminates in tapas (austerity) at a sacred site.
