Bhagavān (contextually Sūrya/Ravi as the presiding deity of the vrata)
Tirtha: Puṇyahrada
Type: kund
Listener: The brāhmaṇa
Scene: Sūrya, radiant and authoritative, instructs the brāhmaṇa beside a gleaming pond; the brāhmaṇa holds fruits, preparing for circumambulation and the 108-count observance.
Faithful observance of tīrtha-vrata—especially honoring Sūrya with discipline—purifies suffering and transforms karma into health and merit.
Puṇyahrada, an auspicious sacred lake praised in the Nāgarakhaṇḍa’s Tīrthamāhātmya.
On Saptamī falling on Sunday: perform pradakṣiṇā, bathe in Puṇyahrada, and complete 108 observances/rounds while holding fruits as an offering.
