Pārvatī’s Vow of Truth and the Dialogue on Her Tapas

ekākī ca sadā nityaṃ virāgī ca viśeṣataḥ | tasmāttvaṃ hi hare naiva mano yoktuṃ tu cārhasi
स एकाकी सदा नित्यं स्वयंसिद्धो विरागवान् विशेषतः। तस्मात् त्वं हि हरे तस्मिन् मनो बन्धुं न कर्हिचित् अर्हसि॥
Parvati
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
The verse highlights Shiva as Pati—ever-free, self-complete, and supremely detached—teaching that liberation arises by aligning the mind with His transcendence rather than projecting worldly motives onto Him.
The Liṅga signifies Shiva’s transcendence and self-sufficiency; even when worshipped in a saguna form, the devotee is reminded that Shiva remains untouched by desire, so worship should be offered without bargaining—pure bhakti with inner renunciation.
Practice mental restraint and vairagya: sit in stillness, repeat the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), and contemplate Shiva as ekākī and virāgī—unbound by craving—so the mind becomes steady and devotional.
