Vision of the Gaṅgā and Meeting with Guha
विशालान् कोसलान् रम्यान् यात्वा लक्ष्मणपूर्वजः।अयोध्याभिमुखो धीमान् प्राञ्जलिर्वाक्यमब्रवीत्।।2.50.1।।
viśālān kosalān ramyān yātvā lakṣmaṇapūrvajaḥ | ayodhyābhimukho dhīmān prāñjalir vākyam abravīt || 2.50.1 ||
विशालान् रम्यान् कोसलान् यात्वा लक्ष्मणपूर्वजः। धीमान् अयोध्याभिमुखः प्राञ्जलिः वाक्यमब्रवीत्॥
Having crossed the vast, beautiful kingdom of Kosala, the sagacious elder brother of Lakshmana stood facing Ayodhya with folded palms and said:
Reverence and humility: even a great hero approaches his homeland and duty with folded hands—power is tempered by respect and self-restraint.
Rāma is traveling and comes to face Ayodhyā; he prepares to speak with a posture of reverence.
Rāma’s humility and composure (dhṛti/dhī), expressed through respectful bodily conduct (prāñjali).
