Narada (teaching tirtha-vidhi within the Uttara-Bhaga narrative)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It frames a repeat pilgrimage as a disciplined renewal: returning to a tīrtha within a specified interval is to be accompanied by bodily austerities—tonsure and fasting—so the visit becomes a conscious act of purification rather than mere travel.
By prescribing upavāsa (fasting) and muṇḍana (humbling, renunciatory conduct) around a tīrtha-visit, the verse emphasizes devotional seriousness—approaching sacred space with restraint and surrender, which supports focused remembrance of the deity worshiped at the tīrtha.
Kalpa (ritual procedure) is most directly reflected: the verse gives a concrete rule of observance (vidhi) tied to a time-count (ten months) and specific acts (tonsure, fasting) to be performed with care.
