Adhyaya 35 — Madālasa’s Instruction on Purity, Impurity, and Corrective Rites (Śauca and Aśauca)
बाले देशान्तरस्थे च तथा प्रव्रजिते मृते ।
सद्यः शौचमथान्यैश्च त्र्यहमुक्तमशौचकम् ॥
bāle deśāntara-sthe ca tathā pravrajite mṛte | sadyaḥ śaucam athānyaiś ca tryaham uktam aśaucakam ||
बालमरणे, देशान्तरस्थमरणे, यतिमरणे च—सद्यः शुद्धिः। अन्यत्र तु त्रिरात्रमाशौचं निर्दिष्टम्।

Ritual burden is moderated by circumstance: where social/ritual linkage is weaker (distance) or the person is ritually ‘beyond’ household identity (renunciate), impurity is minimized.

Immediate śauca for a renunciate reflects the ideal that one who has ‘left’ social identity is not bound by household impurity-networks; it encodes a metaphysics of detachment.
