Droṇa’s Rebuke to Duryodhana after Jayadratha’s Fall
tatra rājan mahān āsīt saṅgrāmo lomaharṣaṇaḥ
The verse underscores the moral gravity of war: when dharma collapses into unchecked violence, the battlefield becomes a universal site of destruction for embodied beings, evoking Rudra’s fearful aspect and reminding the listener of the cost of adharma-driven conflict.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that, at this point in Droṇa Parva, the fighting intensifies into a vast, terrifying engagement between the Pāṇḍavas and the king’s forces, marked by widespread slaughter.
