Droṇa’s Rebuke to Duryodhana after Jayadratha’s Fall
tān droṇaḥ pratijagrāha parīpsan yudhi pāṇḍavam

Even in righteous duty (kṣatriya warfare), intention matters: the verse highlights purposeful action—Droṇa’s deliberate aim to seize the opponent—while inviting reflection on the ethical strain when personal relationships (teacher and disciples) are subordinated to wartime obligations.
Sañjaya reports that Droṇa, intent on taking the Pāṇḍava(s) in combat, accepts the engagement and advances to confront them on the battlefield.
