अयं संक्षिप्तः पौष्टिकः सूक्तः यशसः—लोकप्रसिद्धेः, प्रतिष्ठायाः, सामाजिकमान्यतायाश्च—प्राप्त्यै स्थैर्याय च मन्त्ररूपः। विशेषतः यजमान–दक्षिणा–प्रदानेन सम्बद्धे यज्ञीय–पोषणव्यवहारे यशोऽभिवर्धयितुं प्रयुज्यते। इन्द्रात् द्यावापृथिव्योः सवितुश्च (तदनुगुणतया अग्निसोमाभ्यामपि) यशः परमप्रमाणेभ्यः विश्व–यज्ञीय–स्रोतःभ्यः अवतार्य, तत् सर्वेषु भूतेषु व्याप्य सार्वत्रिकीकरोति, येन वक्ता सर्वेषां मध्ये ‘अतिश्रुततमः’ भवति।

मघवानिन्द्रो मे यशः करोतु; इमे उभे द्यावापृथिवी मे यशः करोताम्। देवः सविता मे यशः करोतु; इह दातुर्दक्षिणायाः प्रियोऽहं स्याम्।
