nābhivādyaḥ sa vijñeyo yayā śūdrastathaiva saḥ | prakṣālya pādāvācamya gurorabhimukhaḥ sadā || 44 ||
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada on dharma and guru-sevā)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It links inner worth to outer conduct: neglect of proper reverence and disciplined behavior makes one unfit for honor, while purity and attentive orientation toward the Guru cultivate humility and receptivity to sacred instruction.
Bhakti is trained through guru-bhakti: reverent approach, cleanliness, and sustained attentiveness to the Guru are practical expressions of surrender (śaraṇāgati) that support devotion and right understanding.
Ritual discipline and śauca: the verse explicitly references ācāmana (a standard purification act used in Vedic/Smārta practice) and proper bodily orientation/etiquette in guru-upāsanā.
