FAQs

It prescribes a Vaiṣṇava-oriented consecration (vaiṣṇavīkaraṇa) to be carried out through key prenatal saṃskāras—garbhādhāna, puṃsavana, and sīmantonnayana—i.e., household ritual procedure for sanctifying conception and pregnancy.

By cataloging gṛhya-saṃskāras (domestic sacraments) alongside other subjects, the Agni Purāṇa functions as a practical compendium—covering not only theology but also life-cycle rites and ritual law for householders.

The instruction frames procreation and pregnancy as sanctified acts: performing these saṃskāras dedicates family life to Viṣṇu, supports ritual purity, and is understood to generate religious merit (puṇya) for parents and child.
