FAQs

This verse primarily transmits Purāṇic genealogical knowledge (ṛṣi-vaṃśa and attendant-sage traditions), identifying the origin, number, and distinctive characteristic of the Bālikhilya sages.

By cataloging sages, their lineages, and mythic attributes, the Agni Purana functions as a reference compendium—preserving cosmological and genealogical data alongside its ritual, legal, and technical chapters.

It underscores the Purāṇic ideal that spiritual radiance (ojas/tejas) and ascetic potency are not dependent on physical size, highlighting the supremacy of tapas and sanctity in the cosmic order.
