ईश्वर उवाच । ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि यत्र जांबवती नदी । पुरा जांबवतीनाम विष्णोर्या महिषीप्रिया । अपृच्छदर्जुनं साध्वी वद वार्तां कुरू द्वह
īśvara uvāca | tato gacchenmahādevi yatra jāṃbavatī nadī | purā jāṃbavatīnāma viṣṇoryā mahiṣīpriyā | apṛcchadarjunaṃ sādhvī vada vārtāṃ kurū dvaha
Īśvara disse: “Então, ó Grande Deusa, deve-se ir ao lugar onde corre o rio Jāmbavatī. Outrora, a virtuosa chamada Jāmbavatī—amada rainha de Viṣṇu—perguntou a Arjuna: ‘Dize-me as novas; fala a verdade, sem ocultar.’”
