रुद्राक्षमालाभरणास्त्रिपुंड्रांकितमस्तकाः । शिखाजटास्सर्वजटा अजटा मुंडशीर्षकाः
rudrākṣamālābharaṇāstripuṃḍrāṃkitamastakāḥ | śikhājaṭāssarvajaṭā ajaṭā muṃḍaśīrṣakāḥ
Estavam adornados com rosários de rudrākṣa, e suas testas traziam o Tripuṇḍra de cinza sagrada. Alguns tinham topete com jata (cabelos entrançados), outros tinham jata por toda a cabeça, outros não tinham jata, e outros eram de cabeça raspada.

Rudrākṣa and Tripuṇḍra are classic emblems of Saguna Śiva worship connected to Linga-upāsanā; they express belonging to Śiva’s path while disciplining the body-mind as an aid to steady remembrance of the Lord.
Wear Rudrākṣa as a japa-support and apply Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) on the forehead with Shiva-mantra remembrance (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), cultivating vairāgya and focused bhakti.
